Biography

Dr. Trast graduated from the University of Houston College of Optometry in 2021 and went on to complete a residency at the Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago, IL in Pediatric Optometry with emphases in Binocular Vision and Vision Therapy. After residency and a short time in a Dallas private practice, Dr. Trast returned to academia in November 2022 as an Assistant Professor at the University of Pikeville Kentucky College of Optometry in Pikeville, KY. During her time at KYCO she worked primarily in Peds/BV courses, labs, and clinics as well as with the community outreach department and Epidemiology & Research Methodology course. She enjoys working in clinics with patients of all ages and abilities, with particular love for working with young children and special needs populations. Dr. Trast is also active in the American Academy of Optometry and participates in an AAO/Cochrane Eye and Vision Writing Group. In her free time, Dr. Trast enjoys cooking, reading, crafting, and spending time with her family. She's excited to be back at UH Optometry and working with a wonderful team.
