Benjamin's Biography

Benjamin brings more than 25 years of experience in information technology, leadership, and enterprise technology environments across higher education, healthcare, private industry, and military service. Prior to joining the University of Houston College of Optometry, he served as the Information Technology Officer for the University of New Mexico School of Engineering. His previous experience also includes serving as a Senior Clinical Enterprise Applications Architect with Presbyterian Healthcare Services, where he supported complex clinical and enterprise technology environments.

In his role as Executive Director of College IT Support, Benjamin works collaboratively with College leadership, faculty, staff, and central University IT partners to strengthen technology services, cybersecurity, infrastructure, and strategic technology planning in support of UHCO’s teaching, research, clinical, and administrative missions. His leadership approach emphasizes service, collaboration, accountability, and developing technology solutions that support people and organizational goals.

Benjamin holds an MBA, a Bachelor of Science in Information Systems and Security, and an Executive Business Administration Certificate. His professional credentials include Generative AI and Digital Transformation from MIT, ITIL, and Six Sigma Green Belt. He is currently pursuing a Doctor of Business Administration in Strategic Management. Benjamin is also a military veteran whose service helped shape his commitment to leadership, teamwork, and service to others. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his wife and grandchildren, teaching, and classic cars.
