Ahmed Khamas, MBChb, PhD

Biography
Dr. Khamas is a skilled and compassionate primary care physician with research interests
in clinical anatomy and cancer. He earned his Ph.D. from Tokyo Medical and Dental
University, focusing on epigenetics in cancer, including methylation-mediated tumor-suppressor
gene silencing and methylation control in cancer stem cells.
He received his bachelor’s degree in Medicine from the University of Baghdad and practiced
as a general practitioner outside the United States for more than 10 years. Prior
to joining the University of Houston College of Optometry, Dr. Khamas has taught Anatomy,
Physiology, and Biomedical Science at Houston Community College and College of the
Mainland.
